Don’t Worry – Be Happy in 2019 

As we welcome a new year and close the book on 2018, it’s customary to look forward but also to look back over the past year.   For some it may have been great; for others it may have been fraught with stress and tough challenges.  For most it probably had its ups and downs.  Life rarely stays on a straight line for long as we deal with various curves and detours along the way.  What do you do during times of stress and challenge?  How do you react?  How long does it take you to get back on track?

I am an optimist, but not everyone is.  I find the best way to deal with a challenging issue is to consider potential good outcomes and try not to think about the potential bad ones.  If it turns out poorly,  we can tackle it once we have certainty.  A recent study showed that 85 Percent of What We Worry About Never Happens.  The other tool I use is to remember how fortunate I am, even when something bad may be happening to me.   So many people in the world experience much worse every day,  and I am grateful to have options that are unavailable or unattainable to others.
